The preparations for 5th edition of English Winter Camp officially started on November 16, 2013 by the workshops led by Piotr Wojtera and Tomasz Szymborski, both are experienced Project Managers from Nordea.
Around 30 volunteers participated that day in the Introduction to Project Management, where Piotr and Tomasz presented Agile method. Ada Grzenkowicz, Product Owner of Communications Team for EWC 2014 described groups, introduced all Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Karolina Letowska., who is the Project Manager of EWC 2014. During the second half of the day volunteers chosen the groups they would like to join and started working on first sprint.
We would like to thank Piotr and Tomek for volunteering and leading that workshops, they shared their knowledge and this for sure would help us a lot to make another great English Camp. Thank you goes as well to Thomson Reuters Gdynia site where we had a space to organize the workshops for our volunteers.
It will be the 5th edition of the winter version of English Camp organized by Project Management Institute. This time the Camp will be run from 19th January to 1st February 2014 in Darżlubie near Puck. The main goal of the project is to allow children to participate in English lessons and many other games and activities. For the third time together with Reserved Kids brand we will organize a fashion show, the biggest event of English Camp.
Definitely one of the greatest days for English Summer Camp 2013 participants was Tuesday, August 13. For the second time together with Reserved Kids, the brand that belongs to our Gold Sponsor LPP S.A. we were able to organize a charity fashion show for our children, who were playing the role of models. This event took place in the Complex Szarlota near Kościerzyna.
For that day children were preparing since the beginning of the camp. With enthusiasm and a little bit of stage-fright they presented us spring – summer clothes collection of Reserved Kids, and their own paintings, that were presenting their own hobbies. Thanks to the LPP designers besides Reserved Kids collection we could see as well the elements of men and women clothes.
The fashion show, whcih was the main event of that day was very popular, that day representatives of our sponsors (LPP, Thomosn Reuters, Office+, HK Finance, Geoban, Rotary International), our partners (Invest in Pomeranie, Rotaract Trójmiasto, Obiektywni.pl, Fundacja Hospicyjna), our volunteers, guests that were resting in Szarlota came to meet with our children and admire them. Additionally, besides mentioned fashion show, there was also an opportunity to integrate, take part in the bonfire and listen to the Balkan music.
We recommend you to visit our camp website, where you cand find more pictures from this and other events. The pictures that made for us Artur Łopatniuk on the fashion show you can find here. Some of them we publish on this page.
Many thanks to all who came that day for the show, people who actively supported this event and prepare it. Above all we would like to Thank our Gold Sponsor – LPP SA and brand Reserved Kids, without which we would have never succeeded.
This Friday, October 4th, a group of 12 children awarded during English Summer Camp 2013 is going for a trip to Warsaw. With the help of Bayer, children will have the opportunity to visit Baylab (http://baylab.bayer.com.pl/), where children will be able to get to know closely the chemical, physical and biological phenomenons. Additionally, there will be some more attractions, which will inform you about soon.
Our Wedding Campaign is still ongoing, but we are quick to let you know that two couples have already provided us with children’s gifts.
We sincerely thank Annie Adler and Katarzyna Rymko and her spouses and wedding guests who supported our action.
Everything which is good, is ending quickly. On Monday, August 19, there was an official closing ceremony of English Summer Camp 2013.
On that solemn day our children had the opportunity to present their own projects – blog posts that were the result of the two – weeks work during the camp! We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the content on our blog here.
Children also received awards for good performance in the English lessons, for good behavior and for their commitment. No one could leave empty-handed, so the children received awards for their work and for their involvement in all activities. The main prize for 12 children will be educational trip to Warsaw at the beginning of October.
Thanks were also passed to the organizers and to the people and institutions involved in the organization of the camp. We will miss the camp participants of ESC 2013. We hope that participation in the camp motivated children to learn English, helped them to discover new passions and above all, was a time of fun.
Metsa Group from Gdansk organized decoupage and handmade jewelry workshops.
All the kids happily participated, and actively decorated wooden boxes and bookmarks with paper napkins. They also had a chance to make necklaces, bracelets, key chains and felt cases for their cell phones.
The organizers of that event admitted, that at first, they were a bit afraid, if activities prepared by them will be warmly welcomed by the participants. As it turned out, quite unnecessarily! With big smiles on their faces, everybody was very engaged and creative, no matter what age or gender. All the kids found something of their interest, and no one left the workshop without anything.
A goodbye party was held in the evening, and we are sure that most of the kids appeared in their new jewelry.
In the beautiful and sunny Wednesday afternoon, participants of English Summer Camp 2013 met with the instructors’ of Adventurers Club so that the children could experience incredible summer adventure. The fun started with the sphere ball. Special construction allowed us to forget about gravity and roll up in a big ball in different ways.
A great opportunity to overcome fear and take a climbing competition was inflatable climbing wall construction. Here everyone could try themselves their strength and step by step reach out 7 meters above the ground. It was another day of a great fun, smile and a lot of positive impressions.
The tenth edition of the Summer Camp English Summer Camp was completed on 20 August. The end of the camp, however, is just the beginning of the road for both children and volunteers who hopefully get the most out of this great initiative. We managed to give children a smile and make it possible for them to live their dream vacation. This camp proved to be a great adventure not only for children. Volunteers involved in the project also gained a lot of interesting experiences. We learned from each other as well as from our charges. Together we discovered new horizons, we made a great friendship. First of all, it makes our project unique, and the most unique are the people taking part in each stage, both the preparation phase, the camp period, and the camp itself.
