Last Saturday, on 25th of May for the second time we met and continued the workshop started a few weeks before. Discussed were all aspects of the Agile approach in project management. Through interesting activities, the group of 14 volunteers learned how the self-organizing team works and what benefits it has, why it is important to have retrospective or daily scrum meetings. The trainer managed to do couple of interesting exercises, which showed us how SCRUM works and what benefits it has.
We would like to thank Łukasz for the great time spent with us and exciting workshop!
Did you know that we are going to have already 11th edition of English Summer Camp (ESC)? On Saturday, May 17, 2014 with Planning workshops we started working on it!
The group of almost 40 volunteers met and spent the whole day on planning the upcoming Camp.
The first half of the day, Piotr Wojtera and Tomasz Szymborski, project managers from Nordea introduced and presented the Agile method and the basics of project management. After the lunch break we divided into groups and started discussing the plans & ideas for the next sprints.
It was a great day, resulted in many new ideas so that next English Camp will be at least equally wonderful to the previous editions and maybe even better 🙂
Big thank you goes to Piotr and Tomek for this session!
First session about SCRUM method already passed.
On 15th of April a group of volunteers involved in the English Camp had a chance to participate in the workshops led by Łukasz Gałąska from Nearshoring Solutions. The second part will take place on May 24th.
The conference ‘Start w Przyszłość’ (Take off to the Future) in which we have participated took place on the 9th of April 2014. It was organized by the sponsors and partners of our project. The main goal of this event was to rebut the myths about corporations.
We already know that thanks to those corporations our camps are organized for over 10 years now. Also thanks to people like Anna Rybicka (speaker, Thomson Reuters representative) our kids can gain new and amazing experiences in fencing.
It’s worth mentioning that printing of the English Camp logo on the gadgets was sponsored by “Zielona Karetka” health food store located in Jana z Kolna street in Pruszcz Gdanski. Thank you!
We try to provide lots of different workshops in each our camp and we strive to have not only stationary classes, but also one full day trip. During EWC 2014 thanks to the WNS company, whose volunteers organized a money collection, we were able to give one day full of attractions in Rzucewo and Żelistrzewo. A transportation company Skojan took up not only the transport, but also organized: horse riding lessons, archery and a bonfire. Also, the children visited the castle and Seal Hunters Museum in Rzucewo. It was a really amazing day!
The workshops “We will not surrender to electro rubbish” that took place on 28 January, 2014.
The campers were divided into two groups of which each was delivered with almost 3-hour classes. The first group consisted of children aged 12 – 15, the second group at the age 8 – 11. During the practical session every group was divided further into 4 smaller teams.
The aim of the course was primarily to raise awareness of threats to the environment from waste equipment in everyday use, including electrical and electronic equipment and batteries. Using old electrical and electronic equipment usage examples we were focused on creation and development of positive attitudes for natural environment in our children.
The event was organized thanks to the cooperation with AURAEKO Organizacja Odzysku Sprzętu Elektrycznego i Elektronicznego S. A. company, which is the sponsor of English Camp.
A month ago, January 31st, 2014 we had a solemn closing ceremony of English Winter Camp 2014 combined with charity fashion show prepared by Reserved Kids. We have a surprise for you, which is the movie summarizing that important and memorable day. One more time thank you all for being with us.
