English Summer Camp awarded!

The English Summer Camp which has been organized for 10 years by Project Management Institute Gdansk Branch (PMI) has been noticed and awarded by Thomson Reuters Foundation in the Community Champions Award.

Thomson Reuters is a global company that among different programs grants Community Award to the best charity projects. Community Champions encourages and recognizes employee volunteerism and community service, believing that we can all make a difference in our communities.

The organizers of the Community Champions Award competition drew attention to the outstanding experiences, exceptional way conduction and important goals of the project as well as multicultural origins of the team of volunteers.

Every year both English Summer and Winter Camps are strongly supported by Thomson Reuters’ employees who are our volunteers and devote their free time to the preparation and organization of the project which in 2014 will be already its 15th edition. This time additional prize USD 1,000 will be spent on the next edition of the Camp.

English Summer Camp was featured among such winners as Building Classrooms in South Africa and Haven Homes-Care for the homeless elderly. It really proves that we perform well and we are becoming a recognizable brand not only in local society but also globally.

The preparations for English Winter Camp 2014 started. It will be the 5th edition of the winter version of English Camp organized by Project Management Institute.

This time the Camp will be run from 19th January to 1st February 2014 in Darżlubie near Puck.

The main goal of the project is to allow children to participate in English lessons and many other games and activities.

For the third time together with Reserved Kids brand we will organize a fashion show, the biggest event of English Camp.

The preparations for 5th edition of English Winter Camp officially started on November 16, 2013 by the workshops led by Piotr Wojtera and Tomasz Szymborski, both are experienced Project Managers from Nordea.

Around 30 volunteers participated that day in the Introduction to Project Management, where Piotr and Tomasz presented Agile method. Ada Grzenkowicz, Product Owner of Communications Team for EWC 2014 described groups, introduced all Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Karolina Letowska., who is the Project Manager of EWC 2014. During the second half of the day volunteers chosen the groups they would like to join and started working on first sprint.

We would like to thank Piotr and Tomek for volunteering and leading that workshops, they shared their knowledge and this for sure would help us a lot to make another great English Camp. Thank you goes as well to Thomson Reuters Gdynia site where we had a space to organize the workshops for our volunteers.
