ESC 2013 Camp ending

Everything which is good, is ending quickly. On Monday, August 19, there was an official closing ceremony of English Summer Camp 2013.

On that solemn day our children had the opportunity to present their own projects – blog posts that were the result of the two – weeks work during the camp! We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the content on our blog here.

Children also received awards for good performance in the English lessons, for good behavior and for their commitment. No one could leave empty-handed, so the children received awards for their work and for their involvement in all activities. The main prize for 12 children will be educational trip to Warsaw at the beginning of October.

Thanks were also passed to the organizers and to the people and institutions involved in the organization of the camp. We will miss the camp participants of ESC 2013. We hope that participation in the camp motivated children to learn English, helped them to discover new passions and above all, was a time of fun.

Photography Workshops – August 13th
Photography Workshops – August 13th

Children on the camp had a main project, which was creating a blog; besides blog workshops they also had photography workshops.

Adriana Grzenkowicz and Magdalena NagĂłrska, on August 13 showed children how to make photos. They also did some short photo session.

The main goal of that event was primarily to raise awareness to the children, that no matter what we use to make photos, but the important is how we perceive reality and what we show on our pictures. We encourage you to check out our gallery from that day.

Decoupage and Hand Made Jewelry workshops
Decoupage and Hand Made Jewelry workshops

Metsa Group from Gdansk organized decoupage and handmade jewelry workshops.

All the kids happily participated, and actively decorated wooden boxes and bookmarks with paper napkins. They also had a chance to make necklaces, bracelets, key chains and felt cases for their cell phones.

The organizers of that event admitted, that at first, they were a bit afraid, if activities prepared by them will be warmly welcomed by the participants. As it turned out, quite unnecessarily! With big smiles on their faces, everybody was very engaged and creative, no matter what age or gender. All the kids found something of their interest, and no one left the workshop without anything.

A goodbye party was held in the evening, and we are sure that most of the kids appeared in their new jewelry.

Circus Workshop – August 17th
Circus Workshop – August 17th

On August 17, Magdalena Ostrach together with her friends from Pass Factory and other volunteers organized circus workshops.

At the beginning we’ve split into small groups and created several “corners” where children learn various circus tricks. The aim of our workshops was to encourage the children to be active, creative and cooperative. It was also important to show them, how they can develop their motor skills and hand- eye coordination on many excited, entertained ways like: Balls & Rings Juggling, Flower Stick Balance and Spinning, Plates Spinninm, Slack line walking, Unicycle riding.

Amazing how fast the children learnt how to walk on thin slack line, ride a unicycle and spin the plates without falling them off.

Some very patient participants have spent a lot of time to learn successfully some juggling tricks.

At the end all of the children helped us to pack the equipment. It was really amazing day.

Adventurers Club
Adventurers Club

In the beautiful and sunny Wednesday afternoon, participants of English Summer Camp 2013 met with the instructors’ of Adventurers Club so that the children could experience incredible summer adventure. The fun started with the sphere ball. Special construction allowed us to forget about gravity and roll up in a big ball in different ways.

A great opportunity to overcome fear and take a climbing competition was inflatable climbing wall construction. Here everyone could try themselves their strength and step by step reach out 7 meters above the ground. It was another day of a great fun, smile and a lot of positive impressions.

Photoshop and Blog Workshops
Photoshop and Blog Workshops

Dorota SĹ‚oniecka created a Blog Workshop and helped with Photoshop workshop during English Summer Camp 2013.

Kids were just amazing – all of them composed their own Blog and wrote first note – with pictures and all kind of text formatting included. They all proved to be smarter than I could even imagine.

After workshop, some of them showed their interest in blogging. What amazed Dorota, was that some kids admitted that they loved the classes and it was very absorbing for them. Thanks to those workshop new blog posts were created, and you can find them all here.

Children were running the blog all time during the camp. All of this was just stunning, fantastic experience!

Workshop with company PM Experts
Workshop with company PM Experts

Three PM Experts employees August 14, had a pleasure to come to Szarlota and conduct with children two activities: a game that teaches children how to work within the group and communicate in the team, and a painting competition, of course the topic was related to project management.

Patryk and Agnieszka from sales department divided children into groups of 9. They had an opportunity to take part in a game with a rope. The participants had closed eyes and had to lay the figures of the rope: a square, triangle and arrow. The task was to communicate with each other, having closed eyes for all the time.

The second group of children took part in a drawing contest at the same time. Martyna from marketing department told the children the rules of the competition. They had 30 minutes to draw a picture on project management. We were surprised how creative they are! It is fantastic they concentrated on people (the younger group) and time, cost and project plan (among older children). A lot of pictures were on fashion, but it was probably because of the fashion show, they took part a day before.

It was also a great opportunity for PM Experts employees to run a small project and learn the teamwork in a very in troublesome environment.
